Origin story
The shop opened in 1998 as Broadway & Thorndale Floral, started by Linh and Duc Pham a year after arriving from Da Nang, in a storefront they picked mainly because the rent was low and the light was good. For the first decade it was a corner flower shop that happened to do funeral work; that shifted after a nearby funeral home began sending families over, and memorial arrangements grew into roughly half the business. Their son Tuan renamed it Edgewater Florals in 2016 though the legal name never changed and Linh still cuts most of the sympathy arrangements herself.
Why families choose us
Because we ask questions first. Most funeral flower orders are placed from a catalog page under time pressure, and what arrives is technically correct and completely anonymous. We'd rather spend ten minutes on the phone learning something about the person — what she grew, what he wore, what the house smelled like — and build from there. It usually costs the same.

Linh Pham
Co-Founder & Head Designer
Linh opened the shop with her husband in 1998, a year after arriving from Da Nang, and still cuts most of the sympathy work herself at a bench by the cooler. She's the reason the shop's memorial arrangements don't look like catalog pieces — she treats every casket spray as a portrait and will ask you three questions about the person before she picks up a stem. She has an unsentimental streak about money and has talked more than one family down from an order they couldn't afford. Speaks Vietnamese and English; handles most of the shop's Vietnamese and Chinese cultural work.
Tuan Pham
Owner
Tuan grew up stripping thorns in the back room and left for a decade in commercial logistics before coming back in 2013. He runs the business side — sourcing, the wholesale relationships, the delivery routing that gets four arrangements to three different funeral homes before 9am — and renamed the shop in 2016 over his mother's mild objection. He takes most of the funeral home calls and is the one who'll tell you honestly whether a same-day request is possible.
Rosalie Okonjo
Floral Designer & Delivery Lead
Rosalie came to the shop in 2019 from a wedding-focused studio downtown and turned out to have a real feel for the memorial side of the work. She does most of the standing sprays and easel pieces and runs the morning delivery route, which means she's the person most funeral directors on the North Side know by name. She's also the one who developed the shop's preserved-keepsake work, after a family asked whether anything could be saved from their mother's casket spray.

Common questions
How much should we spend?
Less than you probably think, and we mean that. Sympathy arrangements for a home run $75–$150 and look generous at either end. Standing sprays and wreaths for a service typically run $200–$400. Casket sprays are the largest piece and generally $350–$700 depending on size and flowers. A budget doesn't have to stretch across every category — one good arrangement in the right place reads better than four thin ones. Tell us your number and we'll build to it honestly.
Who's supposed to send what?
Immediate family usually handles the casket spray; that's the one piece traditionally reserved for them. Extended family, friends, and coworkers send standing sprays, wreaths, or arrangements delivered to the funeral home. Anyone can send flowers to the house. If your family has already agreed on who's covering what, tell us and we'll make sure nothing arrives twice or nothing arrives at all.
The obituary says "in lieu of flowers." What do we do?
Respect it for the service, and consider a plant or a small arrangement to the home a few weeks later — after the crowd thins out and the house gets quiet. That's often when people most notice being thought of. Some families who request donations still welcome flowers from immediate family; if you're unsure, ask someone close to the household rather than guessing.
Can you deliver directly to the funeral home?
Yes, and it's what we do most days. We handle timing with the funeral director ourselves so arrangements are in place before visitation opens, and we know the delivery entrances and setup rules at most North Side funeral homes. We'll need the name of the deceased, the funeral home, and the service time — the funeral home will place the piece where it belongs.
Can we keep the flowers afterward?
Some of them, yes. Casket sprays and large pieces are hard to transport, but we can build service arrangements so they break down into small take-home posies for guests, which a lot of families like. We also make preserved and dried keepsakes — framed pieces, small shadow boxes, pressed arrangements — from your service flowers. Those need to come back to us within 48 hours and take about a month to finish.
