About this funeral home
Origin story
Reuben Sadowsky was a cabinetmaker who started building plain caskets for his shul in 1962 because the ones for sale locally had metal in them. Requests followed the caskets. The chapel opened in 1974, and his daughter and granddaughter run it now.

Speed is the service. A family that observes burial within a day needs a chapel that can move at that pace on a Friday afternoon, and that is what we are built for: the chevra kadisha we work with can be called at any hour, shomrim sit through the night, and we do not embalm unless a family asks us to for a reason of their own. We bury at Har Tzedek, Beth Ora, Maple Ridge and Oakvale Memorial, and we handle the paperwork for burial in Israel including the flight, the receiving chevra and the timing. Services are led by your rabbi; if your family is unaffiliated, we can introduce you to several who work with us often. Plain wood caskets are what we stock, and we will explain why rather than assume you already know.

Usually, and often for the same day. Call as soon as you can — the constraint is rarely us, it is the cemetery's last interment of the day.
Do you arrange burial in Israel?
Yes, including the flight, the consular paperwork and the chevra kadisha receiving your person there. Allow us a day longer than a local burial.
We are not members of a synagogue. Can you still help?
Of course. We work with several rabbis who lead funerals for unaffiliated families, and we can make the introduction the same day.
