About this business
Origin story
Bernice Halloran opened the shop in 1974 next door to a bakery that is now a phone store. Her two sons ran it after her, and Deirdre — the youngest, who swore she would never work in flowers — has run it since 2011.

Forty years of funeral work for the same parishes teaches you things that do not sound like flowers. Which church will not take a stand in the center aisle. Which funeral home's chapel is dim enough that white on white disappears. Which family always wants carnations and would be quietly offended by anything else. We make the traditional pieces properly and without irony: standing sprays, crosses, hearts, pillows, casket sprays sized to the casket rather than to a catalog photograph. We deliver across the far South Side and the near south-west suburbs, we are open at six in the morning when a service is early, and we take a Sunday order over the phone if you catch one of us in the shop.

Common questions
Can you deliver for a nine o'clock service?
Yes. We open at six when there is an early one, and we would rather be at the church an hour before the doors than five minutes after.
Do you know what our church allows?
Probably. Tell us the parish and we will tell you what fits, what has to stand at the side and what the sacristan will move.
Can you match flowers to a photograph?
We can and we do, often from a wedding picture. Bring it into the shop or send it to us and we will be honest about what is in season.
